This is a short summary of the Jack Petchey ESTTA ( English Schools Table Tennis Association) event that was won by Coldfall Primary
This event is a national tournament split into Zone qualification, Zonal finals followed by Regional Final and then a National Final.
Coldfall won the London North Zone qualification in December 2018. London North is Haringey, Barnet, Enfield and Waltham Forest areas
On January 12th Coldfall represented London North and the London Zonal Finals against seven other schools representating all parts of London. Coldfall won the overall London Zone to be the London Champions by winning all of their matches,
Whilst Sam (who was playing with an injured shoulder) and Noah as the No1 & 2 were expected to and hoped to win their matches it was the support performance that Josh and Jolyon gave by winning at least one match out of two in each round. In Jolyon in his first major tournament fought back to win twice from 2-0 down. It is a team effort and all the players contributed to an excellent days performance. The fightbacks and playing whilst injured and overall positiveness of all the players is a spirit that have all learnt at Coldfall, never give up and try your best in sport and school
The team is made up of four players
Sam Gabriel Currently England no 3 in U11 and no 11 in U12
Noah Hacking Currently England no 40 in U12
Josh Tiley-Hill a Coldfall Table Tennis club player
Jolyon Sze a new Coldfall Table Tennis club player
The same team will be going to Bristol for the regional finals try to get to the National Finals
The table Tennis Club was started about 2 ½ years ago. The investment by the school in buying tables to enable the club to start has been rewarded and is proud that it has helped in developing these four players and more in the development stage. Coldfall has also won the Haringey primary table tennis tournament for the past two years.
