Dear Parents and Carers,
We are pleased to announce that Friends of Coldfall has organised a clothes & shoe collection with Bag2School to kick start our fundraising efforts this year.
Bag2School is the UK’s leading textile recycler and fundraiser working with schools; since its inception in 2001 it has paid out over £27 million to schools.
As well as raising essential funds for our school we are also helping to protect the environment by diverting unwanted textiles away from landfill.
A recent DEFRA report found that textile collection schemes are helping to reduce the volume of textiles discarded at municipal waste sites. However, as a nation we still send 350,000 tonnes of textiles to landfill every year.
By getting involved in our Bag2School collection, you can sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate any unwanted textiles you have in the bag provided. Items to include in your bags:
Men’s, ladies’ and Children’s clothing
Paired shoes (tied together or elastic band around)
Handbags, Hats, Bags, Belts, Socks and lingerie
Scarves and ties
Jewellery
Soft toys
Household linen (table cloths)
Curtains
Towels
Bedding (bed sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers)
Items NOT for the bags:
School uniform – logo or no logo
Duvets and blankets
Pillows and cushions
Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats)
Soiled, painted, ripped or wet clothing
Corporate clothing and workwear
Textile off cuts, yarns or threaded materials
Please refer to http://uk.bag2school.com/ for full details).
In addition to raising funds for Coldfall we will also be raising awareness amongst the children of the many benefits of recycling and reusing.
If you fill the donation bag and still have more then you can use any other bag to donate your items. Don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well!
Bag2School will be collecting from School on 28th November 2017. This will give you five weeks to sort, sift and bag. Please bring your bags to the cold weather shelter (where the cake stalls are) on the 27th Nov (before and after school) and the 28th before school. Please don’t bring clothes in before this date or after.
The school has no space to store bags. The more clothes you recycle, the more money we raise for our school and the less waste we put into landfill – so please don’t be shy at filling up your bags.
Many thanks for helping us; we hope you enjoy your clothing clear-out! As soon as we know how much we’ve raised we’ll email to let you know. Please do donate, even if it’s only a few bits and bobs.
Best wishes,
Friends of Coldfall
