Sam started playing table tennis in the playground at Coldfall Primary School, this interest from Sam and others led to us starting the after-school table tennis club with the help of Mr Castle and Sam’s Dad Alex.
In Easter of 2016 Sam started to play at Barnet Table tennis club social sessions. At the club there is a coaching set up which uses the club facilities called Urban Spin Table Tennis. Urban Spin are one the premier junior (U18) talent centres in UK as recognised by Table Tennis England with many England ranked players including the No 1 U15 Girl.
In May and June 2017 Sam represented London North in the U11 National Individual School Finals and the U11 London Individual School Finals where he made the quarter finals.
In September Sam was invited to upgrade and join Master class with Urban Spin. He is the youngest player, also the youngest to be invited for this in four years.
He has competed in 4 tournaments this season winning one U11 and runner up in another and also semi-finalist in U13.
These results have enabled Sam to become the National Number 1 ranked player in U10’s.
The aim is now to qualify to the National Championships in June 2018 and try to win and become the National Champion.
This success has helped increase the profile of table tennis in the school and helped the Coldfall TT school team to win the Haringey Primary Schools tournament, and into the second round of the National Primary Schools Championship.
