READING CATCH UP OBJECTIVES FOR 2020-2021 |
1. Develop fluent, automatic word reading skills
2. Develop reading fluency through the use of practical strategies such as echo reading, repeated reading, increase in reading mileage, peer reading 3. Develop reading comprehension and reading skills such as retrieval, word meaning, inference, summarising, skimming and scanning etc. 4. To broaden vocabulary and close the vocabulary gap 5. To provide small group and 1:1 reading opportunities for struggling readers and for those children who have lapsed during lockdown 6. To promote enjoyment of reading and develop reading for pleasure
