Weekly reminder 16th March - 20th March 2026
Whole School
- Food Waste
We’re working with the North London Waste Authority this year to reduce waste at school, with a big focus on food waste. Attached to the email sent out there is some important information about how you can help reduce food waste at home – and details of a competition that the children can enter. They should bring their posters to school and ask their teachers to give them to Mrs Greene - not post them on social media, as the video says.
Thanks for your help to reduce food waste!
- Community Gardening – All Welcome! - Wednesday, 18th March, 3:45pm – 4:30pm
Who: Parents/Carers/Grandparents/Staff and up to two children - adults must stay to supervise the children

Please make sure your child brings to school a plastic bag (thin kind from a supermarket) by Wednesday, 18th March at the latest. Years 1-6 will be taking part in a very exciting project on Monday, 23rd March with the company Looply, who will help us turn old plastic bags into beautiful bunting to be used for school events – reducing plastic pollution by reusing it.

- Parent Governor Election – Please vote by Thursday, 19th March 4.00pm
Ballot sheets have been sent home with children for the parent governor election. Please read the instructions on the front of the ballot carefully and the candidate statements on the reverse before voting.
You may vote for up to two candidates on the same ballot sheet. Please return the completed ballot to the ballot box at the front desk by 4:00pm on Thursday, 19th March. Unfortunately, votes cannot be accepted after this time.

- OPAL PLAY
Our OPAL PLAY small-world area needs a few more friends. Our little Dino and Tiger are getting lonely ☹! If you have any small toys like animals, cars, figures, etc, that are looking for a new home, we’d love to adopt them. No pressure at all! Only if you have spares. Thank you!

Any unclaimed lost property will be disposed of on Friday, 27th March at the end of term, so please have a look before that. Thank you.

Ongoing Reminders
- Contacting Teachers
We politely remind you to please email the school office with enquiries about children rather than directly to teacher’s personal email addresses. It is important for the boundaries around this to be respected in the interests of staff well-being. These will then be forwarded to the appropriate member of staff. Thank you.
- Wellies - Please check your child’s wellies are CLEARLY LABELLED with their NAME.
Lots are getting misplaced or put back in the wrong place at break time, and it really helps if they have names in. Also, lots of children have the same wellies, which can cause confusion.
- Smartphone Free School
Coldfall is a proud and strong supporter of the Smartphone Free childhood movement. Over 170 parents have signed the pact not to give their children a smartphone. Please find out more and sign the pact here:
https://www.smartphonefreechildhood.org/parent-pact
- Breakfast Club
We strongly recommend that you walk your children to the door of breakfast club in the mornings rather than leaving them at the school gates (this applies to older children as well). The site is not supervised early in the morning. Please also be reminded that you will not be able to come in for Breakfast club until 8.00am.
- Bringing in items late to school
If there is an item that you or your child has forgotten (such as water bottles, clothing, bags, books, musical instruments, lunch or snacks, etc.) can these please be brought to the office NO LATER than 9.30am. Taking items to classrooms during school hours disturbs teaching and learning, as well as the office.
- Coldfall Avenue School Gate – Opening Hours
The Coldfall Avenue gate is locked between 9.05 am and 3.15 pm. Please use the Everington Road entrance during these times, as the Coldfall Gate will not be opened for you and you will be asked to walk around to the Everington Gate. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety of all children.
Some of our families may be entitled to Free School Meals funding (FSM), which can be used by the school to pay for additional support such as extra tuition, mentoring or after school activities etc. The school would receive this funding as Pupil Premium Funding. If you think that you may be eligible, you can check by going online to https://pps.lgfl.org.uk/ and clicking on “Check Eligibility”. We will receive a notification from Haringey if you are eligible.
We wish everyone a lovely weekend!
