School Lunches
All Reception to Year 6 children are now eligible to have free school meals thanks to the Mayor of London’s emergency funding. Every primary school child in Haringey will get free school meals for the 2023/2024 academic year, saving families about £440 per child.
Nursery
The cost for Nursery school lunch is £3.00 per meal, which is payable in advance in the first week of term and excludes TAD days, when the school is closed for staff training (see school website). Please make payment online. If you have any difficulty with online payments, please contact the school office.
Alternatively, you can send in a packed lunch from home. Please remember that we are a nut-free school.
School Lunches
Our school lunches are very popular and nutritious and offer a wonderful choice of appetising foods.
We have our own Coldfall catering team. The team is supported and trained by a specialist school meals consultant who visits the school kitchen at least every half-term.
All our lunches meet the latest government guidelines, ensuring well-balanced, healthy and nutritious meals are served each day.

Parents/Carers on Benefits – Extra Funding for Schools
Even though you do not need to apply for free school meals if you are in receipt of a qualifying benefit, you should still complete an application form. By doing this, your child’s school could get up to £1,455 in extra funding through the Pupil Premium, to help improve their learning experience and outcomes.
Qualifying benefits include:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (if you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of less than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit – if you have an annual net earned income of less than £7,400 (as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
If you fit any of the above criteria and therefore think you may be eligible, you can check by going online to https://pps.lgfl.org.uk/ and clicking on 'Check Eligibility'. If you do not already have an account, please select ‘Create a New Account’ and click ‘Proceed’.
You will then need to select ‘Haringey Council’ from the drop-down menu and then ‘Coldfall Primary School’. Please complete the required information.
The funding is used to boost learning outcomes for pupils so every child in Haringey can achieve their full potential.

Packed Lunches
Packed lunches at Coldfall should not contain the following:
- Sweets, chocolate and crisps and any other similar high-sugar/high-salt foods
- Fizzy drinks or drinks with a high sugar content
- Anything that contains nuts
Please try to refrain from putting single-use plastics in packed lunches where possible, such as plastic bags, yogurt pots or tubes, or any other unnecessary single-use plastic containers/wrappers.
What is Allowed?
Brown bread sandwiches if possible with a healthy filling (try to avoid sugary spreads), fruit, cut-up vegetables such as carrots and cucumber, a healthy nut-free cereal bar.
