Newly Qualified Teachers

Support and Training at Coldfall Teaching School

So, you’ve made it, you’re qualified and you have NQT status, congratulations!  The next year will be one of the hardest, but most enjoyable times in your new career.  Your first classroom, the first class that you will never forget, and probably many unexpected situations that you didn’t see coming.

You are not alone as you step forward in to this exciting profession.
We have on average around 20 Schools Direct trainees a year, but the number is growing, and all trainees so far have gained employment in the partnership schools, if that’s where they have wished to go.
If you were one of the trainees with either us or our partner schools, we run regular training throughout your NQT year to offer the support and guidance you need.
We know you are great teachers,  and we want you to feel supported so that one day you may progress to middle and even senior leadership with us!
NQT Training

This year with our partner schools we have trained 24 excellent teachers on the School Direct teacher training programme.

To enable the cohort of trainees to continue to work together and to strengthen the partnership of schools we have planned a series of NQT training sessions.

These sessions will be held on Tuesday afternoons between 2.30 to 4.00pm on a regular basis. We believe that this is less disruptive to the employing schools and more productive for the NQT to have frequent shorter sessions than infrequent whole day training.

By keeping the NQTs together and providing the right support and training we have the best chance of keeping them within our partnership and to eventually fill middle leader and ultimately senior leader positions.

NOTE:  NQTs will still need to be registered with HEP (Haringey Education Partnership) for their final accreditation.

We have planned 12 sessions for this academic year. The cost of each session will be £30 or £320 for all 12 payable in advance.

NOTE: Coldfall teaching school is recognised as an appropriate body to accredit NQT at the end of their NQT year. However, we cannot sign off those who were trained within our partnership. Therefore NQTs will still need to register with the local authority for this year for the final accreditation.
Developing Teacher Training

We are running a six session Developing teacher course. This is specifically aimed towards new teachers who are at the end of their NQT year or in their second year of teaching.  As well as classroom based training there will be opportunities to observe good practice and an expectation that participants will put into practice some of what they have learnt in their own classroom.

The course will run for 6 weeks between 9:00am and 12.30pm starting on Thursday 24th April.  Teachers will need to attend all 6 sessions.

The total cost for all 6 sessions will be £180
